Kodaly is an excellent music program designed to teach basic musicianship through singing and body movement. It is based on an approach to music education developed by Hungarian Zolton Kodaly in the early 20th century. Kodaly is an essential first step to anyone wishing to learn how to read and understand musical language.
This class is integrated into the weekly violin group classes held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and is open to other instrumentalists as well. Violin group class fees include Kodaly, however there is a fee for students wishing to participate in the Kodaly class alone.
Students are placed in classes according to their age and musical understanding. Progression is from Prep Level to Level 3, after which they are ready to begin formal RCM Theory training.
